    Keynote Speaker: LaShauna Dean, PhD

    Dr. LaShauna M. Dean holds a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from Old Dominion University, M.A. in Counseling, and B.A. in Psychology. Additionally, Dr. Dean is a Licensed Professional Counselor, Nationally Certified Counselor, Approved Clinical Supervisor, and Masters Addiction Counselor.

    Dr. Dean currently serves as the Director of the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program and is an Associate Professor at William Paterson University in Wayne, NJ. Dr. Dean has worked in the field of mental health counseling for over eight years in a variety of roles including specializing in substance abuse and trauma. She has worked with clients diagnosed with Axis I and II disorders as a counselor, substance abuse clinician, case manager, crisis intervention worker, and intake/assessment clinician.

    Dr. Dean’s current research agenda centers on the areas of diversity/multiculturalism and addiction. Dr. Dean is also interested in social justice research, diversity and communication research, and research design and methodology. Dr. Dean has done IRB-approved research on cross-cultural communication, substance abuse assessment and self-efficacy, developing and validating an original competency scale centering on rurality bias, exploring college decisions in African American and Latino students, and many other projects.

    Payment: We no longer accept credit cards or cash. Please pay your invoice with a check or bring it with you the day of the event; you must still register online first.

    Registration will not be permitted at the door.


    Should you wish to cancel your registration, you must do so at least seven business days prior to the event in order to receive a full refund. If a written cancellation request is not received by seven or more business days prior to the event, the registrant will be liable for the entirety of the registration fee, regardless of attendance or absence from the scheduled event.

    Any cancellation request received fewer than seven business days prior to a scheduled event (or after the event date has passed) due to an extenuating circumstance may be reviewed by the President who will recommend the appropriate action to the VP of Finance and Membership.

    By entering the event premises, you waive all rights you may have to any claims for payment or royalties in connection with any use, exhibition, streaming, webcasting, or other publication of these materials, regardless of the purpose or sponsoring of such use, exhibiting, broadcasting, webcasting, or other publication irrespective of whether a fee for admission or sponsorship is charged. You also waive any right to inspect or approve any photo, video, or audio recording taken by NJC3 or the person or entity designated to do so by NJC3.
